We are college students who are passionate about Jesus and about people. We want to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness in the Twin Cities. Americans are readily made aware of different statistics pertaining to poverty in underdeveloped countries and as we are not in any way attempting to demote those statistics, we think it important for eyes to also be opened to poverty on our own streets. We do, however, acknowledge the fact that poverty in our country bears a vastly different definition than poverty in these underdeveloped countries. We personally know of many individuals who have been inspired by the statistics from these underdeveloped countries and are merely waiting for an opportunity to lend their hands. For these people, if nothing else, we aim to show them what they can do in the meantime in their own communities. We would like to show people ways to service the homeless without exhausting their time or their money. We would like to also open people up to different venues of giving that are already in existence and serving the homeless in our area (different organizations, etc.). Overall, we would like to provide a face to the homeless who, to most, currently bear no identity at all.
